Anxiety And Panic Attacks

(My Original Blog Post: http://ping.fm/FnoRg)
Anxiety and panic attacks can come on with no warning, and with no discernible trigger or cause. Anxiety can be useful if you are in danger or need to react quickly, but in today's fast paced world many Americans are always rushed and under a lot of stress and strain. This leads to increased anxiety, and many people suffer from panic attacks because of the stress and emotional overload. Taking steps to relieve stress every day can help prevent panic attacks and lower your anxiety levels. There are treatments available for these disorders if they interfere with your enjoyment of life or your usual activities.

Anxiety and panic attacks can occur if you have a reason to be nervous. Many people get stage fright and may panic or feel anxious before they make a public speech or appear in public. This is normal and is not considered an anxiety or panic disorder. It is only when high levels of anxiety happen for no good reason that it becomes a problem that should be treated. If you experience panic attacks or anxiety for no reason and do not seek treatment, the problems may become worse. Over time you may refuse to leave your home, for fear that a panic attack will strike and leave you helpless and vulnerable without anyone to help you through it.

Anxiety and panic attacks can make it difficult or even impossible to move or speak. You may feel frozen, or out of touch with your surroundings. You can experience chest pain and heartbeat irregularities, and may start sweating, trembling, and shaking. Your sense of fear and panic are so great that you may think you are dying or going insane. These symptoms are caused by your central nervous system gearing up for the fight or flight response, even though the situation and circumstances do not warrant it. Talk to your doctor and get help, to eliminate panic attacks and lessen your anxiety.
